Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum: Museum of Comic Characters by Japanese Manga Gods


Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum Japan For Anime Lovers- Manga or graphic novel comics have had a major impact on the Japanese art industry for years. Renovations were carried out in the general exhibition zone area on the first floor adding details to the chronological table on display, and replacing several collections to better illustrate the relationship between the city and Tezuka.

The colors of decorative stained glass at the entrance and pillared ceiling are also restored to return to their original colors. The newly installed LED lights provide a brighter atmosphere at the museum. Foreign tourists can also enjoy every collection in the museum because now information texts are available in English.



The ceiling is now brighter than before. This will be a building connecting area to a cultural facility scheduled to open in spring 2020.


Meanwhile, the public exhibition zone on the first floor underwent a large scale renovation to highlight the relationship between Tezuka and the city of Takarazuka. Television monitors are installed in several locations making it easier for visitors to watch various information.




On the second floor contains all the information and films made by Tezuka. This second floor area is undergoing renovation. ASTRO BOY Atom, a film made in 2003 (the birth year of Astro Boy in the story), was also added to the exhibition collection on the second floor. After the hardware has been upgraded, the movie image is now played more smoothly so that visitors are more comfortable when watching it.


The paperback exhibition on the second floor has turned into a thematic exhibition. This means the exhibition will change, so visitors will get a different experience each time they come to the museum.


Tezuka's characters, drawn by several manga artists, were also exhibited in the thematic exhibition zone. These works were drawn to celebrate Tezuka's 90th birthday held in Tokyo and Miyagi.


A total of 90 collections are exhibited in three different periods until 28 October 2019. Visitors can enjoy the famous Tezuka manga character artwork drawn by one of the best manga artists in Japan.



In addition to the thematic exhibition, there is a special exhibition titled OSAMU TEZUKA MANGA NO KAMISAMA 2 which lasts until June 24, 2019. The exhibition is the same as a special exhibition on the 90th anniversary of Tezuka that took place at the Angouleme International Comic Festival in France at the end 2018. Through this exhibition you can understand how foreign curators see Tezuka manga through the caption and selection process of each collection on display.
